Projects
History
1990
Funded in L’Aquila, the Center is initially focused on the growth of Cadmium Mercury Telluride materials for InfraRed detectors.
1996
CREO starts the development of bolometer-arrays based on Vanadium Oxide, and focuses on large area bolometers for special applications requiring high signal-to-noise ratio and simplified electronics.
Early 2000s
Activities are oriented to the development of IR smart sensors and applications. In the frame of the EDA project ‘CANARIO’, CREO delivers a sensor of chemical threats based on home-made bolometer arrays.
2005
‘Taking advantage of 20 years experience in thin film technology, CREO qualifies its first anti-ESD coating in the frame of the Cosmo SkyMed program.
2010
CREO qualifies its first thermo-optical coating, named ‘Interferential CERMET’ on parts of a high gain antenna for the BepiColombo mission to Mercury.
2015
CREO starts the development of the First-Flex technology, that aims at applying the Interferential CERMET coating on flexible substrates for a new generation of Optical Solar Reflectors.
2016 - today
With META-REFLECTOR and SMART-FLEX projects, CREO paves the way for Smart-OSRs with a temperature-dependent emissivity by coupling thin-film technology, plasmonics, and thermochromic materials.
2018
CREO delivers chemical sensors and sampling system for use on board RGVs. One of the sensor is built in cooperation with CNR-IMM and based upon patent-pending GC-PAS technology.
2022
CREO will complete the space qualification of the FIRST-FLEX Optical Solar Reflectors product.
5 December 2025
Our first thermo-optical coating will arrive at Mercury on board the BepiColombo MPO module.
